Pine Grove
Drive-In
US 11 at Berkeley Station Rd. north of Martinsburg, W.Va.
years of operation: 1949-78
currently: self-storage; some mobile homes
Advertised at its opening as the largest drive-in in West Virginia (it was several times larger than the competing Sky-Vue), its name was chosen in a mail-in contest. It included some walk-in seats. Roth Theatres took over operations in 1954, and in 1959 installed a new, 60x90-foot screen with a five-room apartment and office built into the tower.
