Skyline Drive-In
US 250 west, Waynesboro, Va.
years of operation: 1950-88
currently: Jim Snead Ford Lincoln Mercury
"Shenandoah's Showplace". Opened by the Newbold-Keesling
circuit of Bramwell, WV; managed by R/C Theatres in the '70s.
"My dad, David Ponton, ran the movies at the Skyline
Drive-In in Waynesboro in the 1960's, and especially remembers two films:
The Ten Commandments and Anne of a Thousand Days.
I might note on the building behind the Skyline ticket office in the pix
on the Skyline page. This is a storage building, not only for the Skyline
but for the Wayne indoor theatre and possibly for the North 340 drive-in
as well, as all three of them were possibly run by the same company. I remember
seeing the Skyline many times in passing by, and I feel it is kind of sad
that it wasn't preserved." -- Lois Ponton
