Fairground
Drive-In
old US 220 (North Main St.), Rocky Mount, Va.
capacity: 200 cars
years of operation: 1950-??
currently: Rocky Top Building Products
Built at what had previously been the site of the county fairgrounds; situated in a "natural amphitheater" (i.e. reverse incline). Original operators were M.P. Newman and Carlan Guynn. Doesn't seem to have lasted much beyond its opening year.
Below see part of a 1962 aerial photo depicting the entrance road and ramp outline of the drive-in. The old fairgrounds are across the street.
