Founder Earl B. Mullins opened his first outdoor theatre just after World War II, in the Pennington Gap ballpark. It probably didn't welcome cars, though. This one did.
Below is part of a 1969 aerial photograph depicting the long-closed drive-in (only the ramps remained), on the Powell River bottomland south of (and below) Route 421. Off to the southeast is the hamlet of Woodway.
